What is Settled Status?
It is a kind of residence right that allows European citizens to live and move freely in the United Kingdom indefinitely.
What types of Settled Status are there?
There are two types of Settled Status, and the type of application you need to make depends on how long you have been living in the UK.
- Pre-Settled Status: It is granted to those who have been living in the UK for more than 1 day but less than 5 years.
- Settled Status: It can be applied for by all individuals who have been living in the UK for more than 5 years.
Who needs to apply?
Everyone residing in the United Kingdom who is a citizen of a European Union (EU 27) country. In short, if you want to live in the United Kingdom, you will be required to apply for it.
When to apply for Settled Status?
The deadline to apply for Pre-Settled Status was December 31, 2020. However, the deadline to apply for Pre-Settled Status has been extended, and it is still possible to apply (as of October 2023).
Why is it important to apply for Settled Status as soon as possible?

Can I apply for Pre-Settled Status from Italy?
Yes, but you must have spent at least one day in the United Kingdom in the last 6 months and be able to prove it.

It guarantees the same rights you currently enjoy. This means you can stay in the United Kingdom without limits, access social benefits, work, study, receive a pension, access healthcare, access public funds, etc.
