What is Settled Status?
It is a type of right of residence that allows European citizens to live and move freely in the United Kingdom indefinitely. For people from outside the European Community (EC), the Settled Status works as a Visa.
Who can apply for Settled Status?
All those who reside in the United Kingdom and are European citizens (EU 27). In short, if you want to live in the UK you will have to apply for it.
What is the deadline to apply for Settled Status?
The deadline for requesting the Settled Status is 31 December 2020.
Why is it important to apply for Settled Status as soon as possible?
Because in this period of uncertainty in which political forces and lines of thought suddenly change, new conditions/restrictions may vary or arise.
Can I apply for the pre-Settled Status from outside the UK?
Yes, but you must have spent at least one day in the UK in the last 6 months and be able to prove it.
What does the Settled Status grant?
It guarantees the same rights you have at the moment. You will therefore be able to stay in the UK without limits, access social benefits, work, study, receive your pension, benefit from the health service, access public funds, etc.
Exist 2 types of Settled Status:
- Pre-settled Status: it is granted to those who live in the UK more than 1 day but less than 5 years.
- Settled Status: anyone who has been living in the UK for more than 5 years can request it.
